F.A. Cup Connection Continues ....
Following the fantastic performance and deserved result on Saturday at Solihull Moors in the
3rd Qualifying Round of this years competition, the Red's connection has continued on into the
4th Qualifying Round with the Red's being drawn away at Blue Square Premier team Kettering Town
who have former Red's star Exodus Geohagan in their ranks.
The last time Redditch Utd made it through to this stage of the competition they drew 1 vs 1 at home
to Bedworth Utd on Saturday 28th October 1989 and went on to win the replay 0 vs 2 three days later
on Tuesday November 1st to set up a 1st round proper tie at home to Merthyr Tydfil which the Red's
lost 1 vs 3.
This years tie will take place at The Elgood's Brewery Arena (formerly known as Rockingham Road) on Saturday October 24th kick off 3.00pm.
The Red's earned the right to face Kettering Town in the next round after a tremendous all round performance at Damson Park on Saturday comfortably beating local rivals Solihull Moors 0 vs 2 in what was arguably the Red's best display of the season so far. Liam Francis rattled in an unstoppable header from a Dave Bridgwater corner on 35 mins to open the scoring and Jack Byrne sealed the win with a neat finish on 54 mins following a great piece of skill from Asa Charlton in his own box and quality through ball. The score could have been greater in fairness as the Red's created a host of chances but in the end they had to settle for just the 2 goal margin.
The tie at Kettering Town however will be a different proposition with Mark Cooper's team currently sitting in 3rd place in the Blue Square Premier League table after a very impressive start to their season with 9 wins, 3 draws and just 3 defeats. The Red's will certainly go their as underdogs - but this is the F.A. Cup and bigger teams than Kettering have fallen to lowlier teams than Redditch in the past so it promises to be an interesting match with nothing a certainty.
TICKET INFORMATION
The admission prices for the match are confirmed as follows;
Main Stand - £10.00 Adults, £8.00 Concessions and £4.00 Under 16's
Terrace - £9.00 Adults, £6.00 Concessions and £3.00 Under 16's
Tickets will also be available on the day from Kettering Town at the above prices.
Tickets will be on sale from the clubs main office at this Saturday's home league match against Farsley Celtic, kick off 3.00pm.
In the event of a draw, the replay will take place at The Valley Stadium on Tuesday October 27th kick off 7.45pm with admission prices as normal.
