Heggs Returns To Bolster Reds Ranks ....

Following the sad demise of Kings Lynn F.C. former player and Assistant Manager/Coach,

Carl Heggs, has returned to The Valley Stadium for his second stint as a Reds player.Carl

made his latest debut in the 1 vs 3 defeat away at Eastwood Town on Saturday and manager

Gary Whild said of his return; 'When we first signed Carl as a player a few seasons ago his

contribution was tremendous and without doubt he helped to keep us in the division that year,

after swapping the kit for the dugout he was great to work with as coach/assistant manager

last season bringing his invaluable knowledge and experience of the game to the club and his

contacts within the game also saw him attract quality players such as Ryan Beswick,

Nathaniel Rowe Turner and Aman Verma to Redditch Utd. As we all knew at the time, Carl had

aspirations to become a manager in his own right and when the job at Kings Lynn came up he

went with our blessing and good wishes and he did a fantastic job of getting them into a very

strong position in the league before the well publicised off the field issues ended his reign

prematurely and I have no doubt he would have been a great success there for seasons to

come. When he became available again last week it would have been silly not to tap into that

knowledge and experience again especially at this, the business end of the season, we currently have a young squad at the club and Carl can help them with his passion and commitment which he has always shown to this club both on and off the field, those who don't know Carl simply see the brash exterior of a seasoned pro but he has done a lot for Redditch Utd over the past few seasons and I had no hesitation in calling on his experience again now'

Carl Heggs himself said of his return to Redditch Utd, 'I'm back at this club for Gary it's as simple as that, we have been good friends for a while now and have kept in touch and during my 23 years in the game you don't meet many like him and I have the utmost respect for him as a person and a manager. I want to make it quite clear that I have not come back to Redditch Utd to get involved in any coaching whatsoever – Gary and Micky (Moore) have done a great job this season and I am simply here if they need a big, dopey centre forward to win a few headers and contribute to the team in anyway I can' Carl continued, 'It's almost like a thank you to Gary for his faith in me as a player and a coach, I have always had a good affinity with Redditch Utd Football Club and whilst I was away from here theirs was always the first result I looked for, Redditch have punched above their weight in a very difficult league for a few seasons now but the club is run by lovely people and whilst I am here, whether its for 1 game, from now till the end of the season, who knows, but I will wear my heart on my sleeve and do what I can for this football club for what it has done for me. It's not about the money, I have been offered more to go to other clubs but I am forty this year and have to be careful but whilst I still have something to offer I'll do it for Gary and Redditch Utd'

Gary and Carl were talking to Club Secretary, Tim Delaney on Monday evening.
