Redditch Motor To Away Win .....

Saturday 30th January 2010

Vauxhall Motors 0 vs 5 Redditch United

Redditch made light work of struggling Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Park despite enforced

changes in personnel following the departure of three key players this week.

Gary Whild shuffled his pack playing three at the back with Joe Clarke as a makeshift centre

half and youth team pair Brad Bullimore and Dan Carter in the starting line up.

The home side dominated possesion early on but did little with it and United looked

increasingly dangerous on the break, Matt Blair in particular.

Jozef Jakab had a shot charged down and David Bridgwater saw an 18 yard effort well

saved by Motors custodian James Coates in quick succesion before the opening goal

came on 25 minutes.

Matt Blair did well to cut the ball back to Jack Byrne who crossed to Jakab at the far post and his header across Coates found the bottom corner of the net.

Motor's backline was now in disarray, Blair almost doubling the lead on 33 minutes but his shot was a nice height for Coates who palmed his effort away.

But the second was only two minutes away as good work between Bullimore and Blair saw the latter drill a low cross in for youth team debutant Dan Carter to calmly slot home at the near post.

Right on half, time Carter then turned provider, the young prodigy centred for Jakab who once again headed back across Coates for United's third.

Vauxhall used all three substitutions at the break but it was to no avail as a determined United added a fourth on 49 minutes, Liam Francis getting on the end of Bridgwater's low cross and bundling home at the near post.

Jakab played Carter in moments later as Redditch turned on the style but Carter saw his shot from an acute angle blocked on route to goal.

The goal of the day came just before the hour mark. Myron Semper's crossfield pass from the left was expertly taken down by Jakab who jinked inside and rifled a rocket beyond Coates via the underside of the crossbar, a sublime goal made to look effortless by the Red's hitman.

Jakab then wasted two easier chances as the game went on, the second a glaring miss at the far post on 85 minutes when well placed from a corner.

But it didn't matter, United kept their first clean sheet in 11 league matches and secured a vital three points in the process sending them 9 points clear of the relegation places.

Gary Whild was full of praise for his young side after their demolition of Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Park on Saturday.

"It was a fantastic win for us." said the Reds boss.

"Any win away from home in this league is hard earned and we're especially pleased with the clean sheet.

"Our defensive record took a bit of a knock wen we lost 8 goals at Fleetwood but it's great to look so solid after being forced into so many changes.

"We were light on defenders so we went with a bold selection playing three at the back and it paid off for us."

"It was a great team performance, Jozef obviously stands out with a hat-trick but it was a real team effort today, everyone played well."

And Whild was also pleased with his youth team prodigy Dan Carter who bagged a goal on his full senior league debut.

"I'm pleased for the lad, he hasn't had many first team chances yet but he's been training with us all year and now has his chance, he always works hard and now he's reaping the benefits.

"The goal was great, you can see that he has something about him, great movement and a cool finish, he has shown that bit of quality required just as we needed it."
