Red's Weekday Misery Continues .....

Tuesday 8th September 2009

Redditch United 0 vs 3 Gainsborough Trinity

Red's weekday misery continued as they yet again failed to get a single point from a

match played on a day other than a Saturday.

With the early season record reading as - 4 weekday games played and 4 losses

recorded they had their best chance of the season so far to put that right against fellow

early strugglers Gainsborough Trinity in what was already being billed as a 6 pointer.

It was former Villa and Leicester boss Brian Little's first game in charge of the

Lincolnshire side and it ended in a comfortable 3 vs 0 win for his new charges.

Chris Dickenson had two decent chances for Redditch in the first 30 minutes, the first well wide and the second easily saved.

Gainsborough took the lead on 34 minutes when Ryan Semple unleashed a left foot shot from the edge of the box that flew in.

This was increased just after the break by former Sheffield Wednesday player Lewis McMahon who had come on as substitute and again shot from the edge of the box.

Darryn Stamp flashed a shoit wide for the visitors before Darren Dunning produced a nice lob from outside the box after the Reds defence had failed to clear on 76 minutes.

There was little for the Redditch faithful to cheer all night and it looks like it will be a long hard slog once again this season on the evidence of this performance.
