Green ‘Spot On’ As Reds Win Again

Redditch overcame the challenge of a spirited Cradley Town outfit to claim their fourth victory in four pre-season games.

The Reds made the running early on, with a mixture of trialists, experienced players and youngsters taking the field, and Phil Green half-volleyed wide on ten minutes.

But two minutes later, the West Midlands Premier outfit tried to hit back when Matt Bailey just failed to connect with  a powerful ball into the box which, if he had connected with, would have certainly put the hosts ahead.

Tyrone Amory was looking good for Redditch and on 17 minutes had a shot tipped onto the post by Cradley keeper Matt Jones.

On 60 minutes Josh Quaynor blocked a shot well from Cradley’s Nathaniel Waite but three minutes later GREEN made no mistake from the spot, with what proved to be the winner, after he himself was brought down in the box.

Just after, Green was denied his second of the game by the home keeper Jones who denied him with a point blank save.

Anthony Robinson was proving a handful for the Cradley defence and blasted over on 75 and Cameron Jones, who has impressed in the pre-season, hit the post late on.

Redditch will now got to Heather St.Johns on Thursday looking to keep their 100-per-cent friendly record intact.
