Lambs Penned As Blenks Fires Reds

A last minute David Blenkinsopp strike was enough to continue United’s perfect pre-season record continuing their amazing record of winning every single match so far with just the game at home vs Halesowen Town this Saturday to come.

It looked as though the Reds would have to settle for a share of the spoils until the summer signing from Gresley collecting a pin-point Robbie Ager pass and forced the ball beyond replacement keeper Andy Taylor at the second attempt.

The home side had started well enough with Phil Green powering a shot at original Tamworth keeper Joe Collister after just seven minutes.

Cameron Jones was just too high with an effort late in the half for Redditch and teammate Alex Hickman was off target with a header soon after the restart. The visitors also struggled in front of goal with winger Luke Bottomer having their best chance with a long-range free-kick.

A series of second half substitutions knocked both sides off their stride until the game burst into life in the closing stages Young Tamworth striker Keiran Clayton came off the bench to power a shot against the woodwork five minutes from time and the youngster was unlucky with another curling effort soon after.

But it was the Reds who had the final say when Blenkinsopp bagged his last gasp winner.
