Message from the Chairman

What a fantastic result at Hempstead on Saturday which has meant we have won four and drawn one from our last seven matches.   It was very heartening to see so many committed RED supporters at the game, making much more noise than the Hemel supporters and Sallie and I were amongst the number!

We have an awful lot more to do but what is being reflected in our playing performance at the moment is the careful thought Graham, Curly and Danny have put into assembling a competitive squad.  They insist on team spirit, commitment and passion for playing for the Club and I think every player is really giving his best at the moment.

The match at Hemel was interesting for a number of points and the principle one was what Hemel do off the field to fund activity.  The evening of the match their function room was going to host a 25th wedding anniversary for one of their fans and the club said they get at least one big function like that a week attracting a hundred plus people.  This goes a long way to fund the club.  So far this year we have had two fan related functions in the last few months and I leave this with you as an interesting example of what we can all do going forward to play our part in the proper investment for our Club.  This does not require donations, handouts or anything else, but purely some of our many supporters choosing to hold their functions at the Club or joining in the functions put on by the Club.

So we welcome everybody from Banbury United for tonight’s Red Insure Cup tie and I am sure it will be a very competitive match – a curtain raiser to the big league match between the two clubs on Saturday.
