The draws for the ‘First Qualifying Round’ of this season’s Budweiser sponsored F.A. Cup and Carslberg sponsored F.A. Trophy competitions have been made today and the Reds have been handed tough ties against local rivals Hednesford Town and Stourbridge F.C. respectively.

Firstly the Reds will entertain last seasons Southern League Premier Division play off final runners up, Hednesford Town, at The Valley Stadium in the Budweiser sponsored F.A. Cup on Saturday September 17th kick off 3pm.

Hednesford were re-located to the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division last month to accomodate the Reds in the Evo-Stik League (Southern) Premier Division due to their geographic location and they will certainly be intent on putting one over the Reds for this reason if no other.

The Pitmen will certainly be a tough test for the Reds after they narrowly missed out on promotion to The Football Conference by way of a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat 2 vs 3 to Salisbury City. They did however win the Red Insure League Cup so their track record at this level is a proven one and their F.A. Cup pedigree is well renowned throughout the game.

The Carlsberg sponsored F.A. Trophy draw sees the Reds travel to Stourbridge F.C. one of their League rivals, on Saturday October 22nd kick off 3pm. Stourbridge dumped the Reds out of the Worcestershire F.A. Senior Cup competition at the semi-final stage last season before going on to beat Worcester City in the final at The Aggborough Stadium, so revenge will surely be in the minds of those Reds players involved in that match.

The draw for the F.A. Youth Cup has also been made with the club’s future stars handed a very tough home tie against AFC Telford Utd.  The date for the tie yet has to be confirmed but the provisional date has been set as Wednesday September 7th kick off 7.30pm subject to confirmation with AFC Telford Utd.
