The youngsters, members of Redditch United’s 15 junior sides, took part in soccer tournaments and competitions including

The day was the idea of the club’s new vice-chairman, Sallie Swan, as a way of thanking the youngsters and their parents for their support of the Reds during the season.

Event organiser Claire Lane, secretary of the club’s youth section, said the day was a roaring success.

“We had nearly 500 players and families come along and take part in the various competitions,” she said.

“It was a marvellous day, enjoyed by everyone. We had matches going on throughout the morning with the individual challenges in the afternoon.

“We even had a fire engine down at the ground which was a real winner with the kids.”
