Manager Martin Sockett has started building his Redditch United team for the new Southern League Premier Division campaign.
He has agreed terms with seven players and is in talks with a number of others including many from last season’s Blue Square Bet North side.
Defender Adam Wood was with the club at the end of the 2010/2011 campaign and was one of the first to agree a new deal with the Valley Stadium boss.
Midfield pair Mark Hands and Phil Green are set to return to the club where they were fans’ favourites while Simon Fitter is another Redditch-based player delighted to be playing for his ‘home’ club following a number of seasons with new Southern League rivals Evesham United.
Defender Nick Heath played for Sockett at former club Rugby Town while teenage centre half Michael Nottingham has been starring for Midland Combination outfit Castle Vale JKS.
Goalkeeper Tommy Hemming completed the first round of signings, the young stopper making the move from Alvechurch.
Sockett explained: “We wanted to act quickly to show the calibre of player that this club can attract.
“These seven lads are just the beginning as I am already in talks with a number of other players in addition to those who showed such promise during what was a tough season at Redditch United.”
