Reds Boss Sees Youngsters As The Future ....

REDDITCH United manager Gary Whild is aiming to keep star goalkeeper Danny Lewis for next

season and feels the future at The Valley lies in the hands of youngsters.

Early indications are that Lewis is willing to commit his future to Redditch, unless he gets an

offer from a league or Blue Square premier side to go full time.

And Whild - who praised the club’s crop of youngsters for helping them out of releagation

trouble - also aims to keep the likes of Chris Dickenson, Bradley Bullimore, Mark Hands and

Jack Briscoe. Only Nathaniel Rowe -Turner and Ryan Beswick have left the Valley so far in the

close season to return to parent club Leicester City.

Whild said: “I have spoken to most of the players and they are keen to stay and build on our finish

to last season. “Danny is the same- it is no secret he is a Redditch lad and this is his local club.

Any young player will be ambitious so if someone comes in for him then who knows, but it would

have to be a very good offer.

“The youth system here is producing players capable of stepping up to the first team and I see this as the way forward because, like last season, there will be budget restrictions on what we can afford to spend in players. “It is going to be an interesting close season in terms of what is going to happen to clubs and what players will be available and I am aiming to get the squad settlwed in by the time they return for pre season training.”

He added the players would be back for taining the last week in June or the first week in July, ahead of a proposed kick off date for Blue Square North games of August 8.

Meanwhile he ruled out any further link with shirt sponsors Kool Sports, who are yet to pay the money owed on the first season of the two year deal, and said they were actively seeking a new sponsor.
