Red's First Up For Little ....

New Gainsborough Trinity boss Brian Little said he is relishing the latest challenge of his

lengthy management career. Gainsborough Chairman, Peter Swann, fulfilled his promise

of making an "eye-opening" appointment at the Northolme when he announced former

Aston Villa and Leicester City manager Little as the new Blues boss last week.

Little, who has also managed at numerous other clubs including Wolves, Stoke City, Hull City,

Tranmere and Wrexham, and has recently been working as a TV pundit for Setanta, will

officially take over the reigns on September 7 when he returns from a family holiday in Spain

and his first match in charge of his new side will be at The Valley Stadium against Redditch Utd.

Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo, from abroad, the 55-year-old (pictured) said he was

looking forward to the challenge of trying to help Blue Square North side Trinity achieve

some long overdue success. "I'm excited about the challenge at Gainsborough," said Little, who was a leading contender for the Lincoln City job before it was given to Peter Jackson in October 2007.

"I've managed at every level from the Premiership to the Conference and every club I've been at has been a different challenge.

"One or two people might question me dropping down to the Blue Square North, but I don't see it like that. "If you look at my CV you will see that I've taken on all sorts of challenges in my career, and this is another one."
